FranklinWH aPower S installation

The FranklinWH aPower S is a 15 kWh home battery with a solar inverter built in. One unit can back up a whole home, and it is built to keep working through Midwest winters. Wolf River Electric installs aPower S with new solar or on its own across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota and South Dakota.

FranklinWH aPower S home battery with built-in solar inverter

Why aPower S

Whole-home backup in one battery

aPower S combines the battery and the solar inverter in one cabinet, so a new solar and storage system needs less equipment on your wall.

15 kWh in one unit

Enough stored energy to carry most homes through an outage with a single battery. Add more units later if you need them.

Solar inverter built in

Four built-in solar inputs take up to 20 kW of panels directly, with no separate solar inverter.

Built for cold weather

A built-in heating blanket keeps it working in the cold. It is rated to run from -4°F to 122°F.

15-year warranty

FranklinWH covers aPower S for 15 years or 60 MWh of energy throughput.

Works with

aGate, generators and smart panels

aPower S runs through the FranklinWH aGate, which switches your home to battery power in an outage and can also manage a standby generator. It works alongside FranklinWH aPower 2 batteries and SPAN smart panels, and you monitor everything in the FranklinWH app.

FranklinWH battery questions

How long will an aPower S run my home in an outage?

It depends on what you run. One 15 kWh battery can cover essentials like the furnace blower, refrigerator, well pump, lights and internet for many hours, and longer when solar recharges it during the day. We size the system from your actual usage.

Can I add aPower S to my existing solar?

In many cases, yes. aPower S can take new panels directly through its built-in inverter or work with an existing system through the aGate. We check your current equipment first.

Does it work in a Minnesota winter?

Yes. aPower S has a built-in heating blanket and is rated to run from -4°F. We install it in a garage or on an outside wall based on your site.

What warranty comes with aPower S?

FranklinWH covers aPower S for 15 years or 60 MWh of energy throughput. Our workmanship warranty covers the installation.

Are there incentives for home batteries?

Some utility programs and state rebates can lower the cost of a battery, depending on where you live. We check what applies to your home when we quote.
